A 62-year-old ex-marine and DEA special agent managed to hold a plank for over 8 hours and broke the Guinness World Record for the longest-held plank ever.
62-year-old George Hood managed to hold a plank for 8 hours, 15 minutes, and 15 seconds.
He did all these while he was using his smartphone.
According to FOX10, Hood had conversations with other people and watched multiple presentations just to pass the time.
As part of his preparation for breaking the world record, Hood reportedly trained extremely hard.
Hood, who is from Chicago, Illinois, took part in several training camps and had a strict fitness routine.
Hood completed 674,000 sit-ups and 270,000 push-ups.
To be capable of planking for 8 straight hours, Hood said he completed a total of 2,100 hours in the plank position.
In a report that was published by CNN, they said Hood trained for an average of 7 hours per day.
During an interview with CNN, Hood said, “It’s 4-5 hours a day in the plank pose. Then I do 700 push-ups a day, 2,000 sit-ups a day in sets of a hundred, 500 leg squats a day. For upper body and the arms, I do approximately 300 arm curls a day.”
He added, “When it gets tough, you know what I do? I turn that music up so loud, you’d think you’re at a rock concert. I always had a fantasy of being a rock star back in the ’80s.”
He continued, “And at least for those 8 hours, 15 minutes and 15 seconds, I was a rock star.”
When he was planking to break the world record, Hood listened to Rammstein and Van Halen.
