Anonymous, a notorious hacker group, hacked into the radios of the Chicago Police Department and played the “Fuck Tha Police” song of NWA.
The video was shared by Elijah Daniel with the caption of:
Anonymous apparently now been hacking Chicago PD radios all night and playing polka music and Fuck The Police so the cops can’t communicate about protests lmfao
That’s one way to show off that you have some great hacking skills.
The move comes after the group announced their return to social media on May 30, 2020, in line with global protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis earlier this year.
Announcing their intention to target the police departments of Minneapolis and Chicago, the group said:
We stand in solidarity with the protesters and revolutionaries fighting the US oligarchy, fighting the injustice of a massively corrupt racist system that has continued on for generations. #BlackLivesMatter. If the police can’t restrain themselves and are shooting reporters, kicking protesters, punching protesters, and engaging in violence – how can anyone expect the people to restrain themselves? People are done being brutalized and murdered.
Posts online then showed footage of the Chicago Police Department’s radio frequencies being interrupted by a rendition of NWA’s controversial 1988 track “Fuck Tha Police”.
Why They Got Hacked?
46-year-old George Floyd, a black man, was killed by the police during an altercation on May 25, 2020.
Floyd was killed when a white police officer had kneeled on his neck for over 8 minutes as he was being arrested by the Minneapolis Police.
Derek Chauvin, a former police officer, was sacked from his job and has been arrested under the charges of manslaughter and third-degree murder.
Protests in the United States of America and parts all over the world have started because of how badly Mr. Floyd was killed by the police.
What Anonymous Did
On May 31, 2020, the group released a video attacking the police, in which the narrator condemned the reputation of the department for police brutality.
The group said:
This travesty has gone on far too long, and now the people have had enough.
Soon after the video went viral on social media, the Minneapolis Police Department’s website was disabled and taken offline.
The group concluded the message with:
We are legion. Expect us.
