Police Report: On Friday, a woman health officer who was posted as a Zonal Licensing Authority at the Drug and Food Chemical Laboratory in Kharar, Punjab was shot dead inside her office by a man who tried to commit suicide afterward.
The police identified the shooter as Balwinder Singh who shot 2 rounds at the office and then tried to commit suicide afterward to avoid getting arrested by the police.
He was rushed to PGIMER.
The police said that a probe has been launched for the incident.
Arminder Singh, the Chief Minister of Punjab directed DGP Dinkar Gupta to make sure that there will be a speedy probe in the killing of Neha Shorie.
CM Arminder Singh has ordered a prompt investigation into the shooting of Neha Shorie, the CM also ensured that the shooter will be given an exemplary punishment for the crime he committed.
CM Arminder Singh added that no one will be allowed to interfere in the case
.An official statement regarding the incident was released, it said, “At around 11:40 AM today, Neha Shorie, a resident of Panchkula was shot dead by Balwinder Singh of Morinda with his licensed revolver. The accused went to the woman’s office and fired two rounds.”
The statement added, “Thereafter, he tried to run away and was nabbed and shot himself. DSP Kharar, who reached the spot immediately, took the accused into custody. He was undergoing treatment at PGI.”
