Sahil Joshi, a national-level swimmer from Maharashtra commits suicide inside his house

21-year-old Sahil Joshi, a national-level swimmer, from Pune, Maharashtra, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house.

Officials said that Joshi hanged himself when his parents were away on Friday afternoon.

An official statement released by the Kothrud Police Station said that the investigating officers also found a suicide note from the crime scene.

The police believe that Joshi committed suicide due to a personal reason.

The 21-year-old national-level swimmer was an MBBS student in a College in Pune.

The father of Joshi tried to contact him on his phone on the day of the incident, and when he did not answer his calls, his father rushed back to their home.

Officials said that Joshi was found hanging in one of the rooms in their house.

Manoj Erande, the swimming coach of Sahil Joshi, said that the 21-year-old won seven gold medals at national-level championships, and added that he only participated in 9 championships.

Coach Erande added, “He was a very talented swimmer. Backstroke swimming was his forte. We are in utter shock over the incident.”

The police have launched an investigation for the incident, but as of now, they are considering this as a suicide case.
