Police Report: 12-year-old Vasu Yadav, a boarding school student was beaten to death by his seniors who used wickets and cricket bats to beat him up.
The police said that the school buried the dead body of 12-year-old Vasu Yadav inside their school campus after the doctors said that he has died, this was done to cover the incident. The police added that the school has around 400 students.
The police said that the school did not rush 12-year-old Vasu Yadav to the hospital after they found out about the incident.
Vasu was beaten up brutally inside a classroom by 2 Grade 12 students of the same school, the students allegedly poured cold water on him and tortured him, and the students also blamed him of stealing a pack of biscuits while they were on an outing.
After they brutally beat Vasu, he lost conscious inside their classroom and was found by the hostel warden later on the same evening.
SSP Nivedita Kukreti said, “Not only was the boy taken very late to the hospital that led to his death, but the staff members also tried to hide the incident and did not report it to police. He was beaten up in phases in the afternoon, while he was taken to hospital in the late evening.”
Usha Negi, the chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child rights said, “The incident took place on March 10 and we were informed about it on March 11 following which we visited the school. However, when we got there, we found that the school administration had buried the body within the campus without even conducting the post-mortem. It was only after our intervention that the police exhumed the body and conducted the postmortem.”
Usha Negi added that the school did not even inform the parents of 12-year-old Vasu Yadav that he has passed away.
The 2 grade 12 students who beat 12-year-old Vasu Yadav to death have been arrested under the Indian Penal Code of 302.
The Warden, the sports teacher, and the hostel manager have also been arrested under the IPC Code 201.
