A new craze is catching the wind in Gujarat, a state in India, and the only thing the contestants have to do is a fart, no joke, it’s a fart all you can compete. WTF (What The Fart) is going to be the first competition of its kind and will be held in Surat, Gujarat, on September 22, 2019.
Over 200 people have registered for the unusual yet unique competition.
Yatin Sangoi, an organizer, said registrations have continued to remain open and participants can win the most “longest”, “most musical”, and “loudest” fart titles in the competition.
Yatin said, “Each participant will have 60 seconds to showcase their talent before the judges, one of whom will be a doctor. Our quest is to find India”s best ”fartists” in these three categories.”
The organizer added, “While such events are held in different countries, this is for the first time such a contest is taking place in India. Registrations have come in from places like Kolkata, Delhi, and Jaipur.”
During an interview with VICE, Yatin explained how he came up with the idea.
He explained, “I farted in the middle of watching a movie with my family and one of them laughed and said that if there was a contest, I would’ve won. That’s when it hit me that while fart contests happen in countries like China, UK, and US, and even have a world cup, we don’t have anything like it in India.”
Sangoi said winners could possible take home cash prizes with the trophies they win, but this will only happen if someone decides to sponsor their event.
Mul Sanghvi, a friend of Sangoi, will co-organize the fart competition.
