Christmas is to bring everyone together, and there is no doubt millions of arguments end on that day. But one family is different.
Carl, a 34-year-old dad, spent 2 hours in wrapping up the whole kitchen, which includes the fruit, eggs, chopping board, utensils, stove, the floor, and even the drawers.
Carl told 36-year-old Nichola Mullen-King, his wife, about his plans for an Elf on the Shelf style prank earlier, but the wife assumed her husband was joking.
Little did she know he was dead ass serious.
After putting Max, their 6-year-old son, to bed, Nichola walked downstairs to find wrapping paper and ended up helping her husband.
2 hours later, the couple from Newcastle transformed their entire kitchen.
Nichola shared images of their kitchen on Facebook and said, “My arsehole of a husband came up with the bright idea for us to wrap part of the kitchen for elf on the shelf…”
She added, “[Two] hours later and a divorce on the cards, it’s done including the fruit, eggs, utensils and chopping board.”
She continued, “Idiot even plugged the air freshener back in.”
The couple used six rolls of wrapping paper in order to transform their kitchen.
Explaining why did this, Nichola said, “Max didn’t want the elf to return this year as he believes the elf gets him into trouble with Santa. But he had a last-minute change of heart on Saturday which prompted Carl to think outside of the box on the spot.”
She added, “I assumed Carl, who is a customer service advisor, was joking when he said, ‘lets wrap the whole kitchen.’”
She continued, “But after reading Max a book and putting him to bed, he had started and asked me for a hand. I couldn’t stop laughing but we were both panicking in case the noise would wake Max up and I joked a divorce was on the cards if he continued to tell me to ‘shh’.”
Talking about the reaction of their son, Nichola said little Max couldn’t believe what he was looking at.
Max was “flabbergasted” with what he saw and asked his mum “Why do I always get the naughty Elf?”
The post Nichola made on Facebook gathered over 50,000 shares, 33,000 likes, and over 56,000 comments in just 4 days.
The couple said it took them 40 minutes to unwrap the entire kitchen.
