Woman Who Went Missing 2 Years Ago Found Alive Floating At Sea In Columbia

A woman from Columbia that went missing 2 years ago was found alive while floating at sea and has left social media users stunned.

A bunch of fishermen spotted Angelica Gaitan floating off the coast of Columbia.

The entire incident’s footage was shared on social media and it is viral.

Rolando Visbal and his friend, both are fishermen, discovered Angelic, who is now 46, 2 kilometers away from the shore of Puerto Columbia.

She was found at around 6 am on Saturday.

Visbal shared the images on Facebook shows them saving Angelic, who was found unresponsive.

Initially, the 2 fishermen thought that Angelica was a piece of driftwood, but when she raised her hand, they realized that she was human.

They then helped out Angelica get on the boat.

Angelica was found in an exhausted state and was suffering from hypothermia after staying afloat for more than eight hours.

The first words of Angelica after being rescued by the fishermen were “I was born again, God did not want me to die.”

Other videos that were shared by her rescuers on Facebook show them offering water to the woman and helping her take her first steps after being rescued.

Gaitan was brought to a hospital after being rescued.

Angelica Gaitan ran away from her house 2 years ago after she was brutally abused by her former husband.

Angelica Gaitan said:

For 20 years I had a toxic relationship. The abuse began during the first pregnancy. He beat me, he violently abused me. In the second pregnancy the abuse continued and I could not get away from him because the girls were small.

Gaitan said the police did not help her despite registering complaints against her former husband.

The husband would only be detained for 24 hours and after that they would release him, which would just make situations worse.

In September 2018, her husband broke her face and tried to kill her during an argument.

She ended up running away from home and wandered in streets for 6 months before finding a place to stay.

Recalling her situation that time, Gaitan said that she had no plans of continuing her horrible life and she just wanted to end everything.

She added:

I wanted to end everything, I had no help from anywhere not even from my family, because this man kept me away from my social circle, that’s why I didn’t want to continue living.

She jumped into the sea and had no idea what happened after that because she went unconscious.

Alejandra Castiblanco, the daughter of Gaitan, was tracked down by the authorities and she was informed that her mother was still alive.

The daughter said that she had no idea where her mother was for 2 years.

The sister of Alejandra and Alejandra herself are currently raising money to bring their mother to Bogota, where she will be living with her family.
