600 People Dead And Thousands In Hospital In Iran After Drinking Pure Alcohol Believing It Could Cure Coronavirus

Around 600 people have died and thousands more are admitted to hospitals in Iran after they drank neat alcohol, believing it could cure the coronavirus.

The country of Iran has confirmed over 64,500 cases of the virus and has confirmed the deaths of 3,993.

In a bid to fight the novel coronavirus, a hoax in the country is pretty hot.

The hoax claims that people drinking pure alcohol will protect them from contracting the deadly coronavirus.

As a result, it has led thousands of people from getting poisoned.

During an interview with the press, Gholam Hossen Esmaili, an Iranian Judicial spokesperson, said:

“The numbers are very high and are beyond our expectations. Alcohol consumption is not a cure but can be lethal. A number of people have been arrested… and we will deal with them decisively. They must be held accountable for their criminal acts, for causing death and damage to citizens.”

As of writing this article, there is no cure and vaccine that can protect you from contracting the deadly coronavirus.

Instead of drinking pure alcohol, people should be practicing social distancing and self-isolation if they have the symptoms of the novel coronavirus.
