Atlanta: Woman Dies After Getting Trapped In Clothing Donation Box As She Tried To Grab Items Out Of It
A 26-year-old woman in Atlanta died after she got trapped in a clothing donations box as she tried to retrieve some of the clothes.
The woman, whose identity was not shared with the public, was trying to retrieve clothes in the metal container that was located behind a tavern in the Midtown area on the evening of Wednesday.
The news was first reported by Fox News Atlanta.
The owner of the establishment called the police after he found the woman unconscious.
Her arm and head were stuck inside when authorities came.
Turner, the captain of the Atlanta Police Department, said:
The victim used a chair to climb inside the clothing dispensary to retrieve clothing, somehow lost her footing and was entrapped inside of the metal box. The way that the door is made, it is spring-loaded and is a very, very heavy metal door.
Firefighters were needed to free the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police confirmed that the woman lives in the area and is withholding her identity until her family gets notified about the horrific incident.
Turner added:
If folks need any type of clothing or any type of help, you have Salvation Army, United Way. There are a lot of services provided to the less fortunate instead of taking those measures.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased. May her soul rest in peace.
