A 36-year-old man from Denver, USA, is currently facing murder charges for shooting a couple over the fact that he found dog poop outside his apartment.
Michael R. Close, the man, is facing murder and several other charges for the June 10, 2020, shooting in Ballpark, Denver.
The 36-year-old man reportedly got into a quarrel with 21-year-old Isabella Thallas and 26 –year-old Darian Simon over a “command they used to have their dog defecate”.
Beth McCann, a Denver District Attorney, said:
Both victims had disengaged from Close and were tending to their dog when it is alleged that Close began shooting.
Thallas, the 21-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The autopsy report of Thallas found out that she was killed by a gunshot wound and her manner of death was ruled as a homicide.
Simon, a 26-year-old victim, was shot by Close in his leg and buttocks. He is currently in a hospital and is expected to survive.
The shooting occurred after a man yelled at Simon for commanding the couple’s dog to poop as he and Thallas walked the pooch.
The police said that Close open fired on the couple from his apartment.
The dog of the couple was not hurt in the incident.
Clark was later arrested in Park County, where authorities found a rifle and a handgun in his vehicle.
Along with 2 counts of first-degree murder, Attorney McCann said Close is currently facing charges:
- First-degree assault
- Possession of a prohibited large-capacity magazine
- Possession of a prohibited large-capacity magazine during the commission of a crime
Close, who has no criminal record in Colorado, was believed to be heading into a rural area when he was arrested by the police.
The father of Thallas said:
My heart is broken. I’ve never gone to sleep crying and woke up crying in my life … I can’t replace what was taken today.
