We are much closer to the end of the year, and it is time to look back at the year that was. Like every year, Google on Wednesday has released its annual list of the most-searched things of 2015 on the internet.

Annually, there are about 1.2 trillion searches made on Google, and the company trawls through its data at the end of every year to come up with lists of the most popular terms. Google’s list of the top trending things of the year refers to “the searches that had the highest spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2015 as compared to 2014

Google curated an overview of India’s top trends of the year 2015 and it includes many categories. The India’s top trending Google searches for 2015 were mostly related to film releases and cricket events, including blockbuster movies such as Bahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, as well as Cricket World Cup and the IPL.

Here are the top searches of the year 2015:

6. Indian Railways
7. HDFC Bank

This list saw a change with Flipkart on top dethroning IRCTC to bag the first place in the ‘Most Searched Searches’. IRCTC topped “Most Searched searches” both in 2013 and 2014.

Among the most searched people in the country, Sunny Leone topped the list for the second time. She was followed by Salman Khan and the late APJ Abdul Kalam. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was the second-most searched person last year fell to the tenth position in 2015.
