One In A Million Three-Antler Deer Spotted In The US
Steve Lindberg, a retired US legislator, stepped out of his house with a camera to take pictures of the wild, and he ended up catching something that is extremely rare.
Steve has been uploading of wildlife in Michigan since 2012.
When he saw the 1 in 1 million three-antler deer, he wasn’t optimistic about that day because it was really cold.
The winter drives species towards warmer areas.
As he went out, Steve saw a river otter eating fish on the ice, and he said, “I thought: ‘Oh jeez, I got my photo for the day.’”
As he was going back to his car along with his pet pooch, he saw a strange-looking deer.
Steve said, “I have thousands of photos of white-tailed deer but I immediately recognized that this one was unusual… he had this little mess of antlers on top of his head.”
Steve took images of the deer and went home
At first, he didn’t realize that it was an extremely rare deer, but once he uploaded the images to his computer, he noticed that the deer has 3 antlers.
Steve said, “I went: ‘Wait a minute, this deer has three antlers!’ I’d never seen one before.”
Steve posted the picture of the deer on Facebook.
Initially, he was expecting over 100 likes and a number of comments, but after posting on Facebook he got to know how rare the deer was.
Members of the public started to analyze the rare images.
Steve Edwards, a large-animal veterinarian, said that the deer that Lindberg found was a 1 in a million find.
But not everyone on social media were fans of what Steve posted.
Some users said he edited the images that he posted.
In order to prove everyone wrong, he started to upload other images of the deer that he saw.
Steve said, “I’ve stopped reading what people are writing because I’ve been accused of photoshopping… I’ve been told: ‘I want to know where it is because I want to kill it.’”
Steve was once a hunter, but he stopped a couple of years ago.
When asked where he found the deer, Steve refused to answer the question and said he wants to protect the extremely rare deer.
Steve said he returned to the spot later that day and found the deer in the same spot.
A day after taking the images he returned again, but the deer was gone.
