Generous Boss Gives Away $12.7 Million To His Staff As A “Thank You” Before Retiring
Most of us would just host a party when we are going to retire from the thing that we love doing the most, but this man from the United Kingdom had something different in mind.
Instead of getting cards from colleagues or a party, the boss of a UK Company ended up gifting $12.7 million to his employees as a “thank you” before he retired.
David Stevens, the man that we are talking about, is the chief executive of Admiral, a successful Wales-based motor insurance company.
Their company had been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2004.
He co-founded the business with Heather, his wife, in the year 1991.
Starting with a team of just 57, they currently have a staff of 7,500 people in just the entire country of Wales.
They have 3,000 employees in the United States of America, Spain, India, Canada, Italy, and France.
Full-time workers will be getting $1,270 each and the people that work there as part-time workers will be getting $635 each.
During an interview with BBC, 58-year-old David Stevens said that he did it as a thank you to the staff that has helped the company reach the place where they are right now.
He added:
Saying thank you to all Admiral staff in this way is the right thing to do. We are proud and fortunate to have worked with a such a special group of people.
This is such an amazing thing to do, especially with the coronavirus pandemic.
The money that he gave away will be helping a lot of people and their family members in times like these.
