A homeless orangutan has found a new place to live in an overgrown church in London, England.

Pongo, the orangutan, moved into a derelict church in Central London after a 2-week constant search for a new house.

Pongo was left displaced from his real rainforest home in Borneo where he was just 1 of 100,000 left, said reports.

He currently lives by the trees at St. Dunstan in East London having scoured the United Kingdom for a fortnight.

It was also reported that Pongo even hunted for a home in Spareroom after he lost his home due to heavy deforestation.

Pongo traveled across a number of continents thanks to Meridian, a palm oil-free nut butter brand, and the International Animal Rescue.

The kind act was carried out to help increase awareness that orangutans are facing extinction in case they and their natural habitat are not protected by humans and the government.

Paul Fraser, the Managing Director of Meridian Foods, released a statement about the incident, where they said:

There are simple steps we can all take to help turn around the fate of the orangutan species. Avoiding foods with palm oil is a starting point. By proactively choosing products that don’t contain palm oil, everyone can help reduce demand and deforestation, protecting orangutans like our ambassador, Pongo, in the process. So many products contain palm oil which simply don’t need to and they taste better without it. We’re incredibly proud to be certified palm oil free and to be working alongside International Animal Rescue to raise funds that help them rescue and rehabilitate orangutans.
