2018 Could Be The Worst Year for Apple in The Indian Market

Reports of experts suggested that entry of competitors like one plus and a new range of Samsung makes Apple competition cutthroat and intense in the premium smartphone market of India.

 

 

Apple which is one of the most valuable brands for their products all over the globe. The US-based company has noticed a sharp fall in a shipment of their iPhones in the first half of 2018.

Analyst says that it could be the worst year for US-based Apple in the Indian market. Reports of Economic Times stated that now Apple has changed its focus. Now the company she is profitability rather than focusing on sales growth with a proper rate of discounts and organized distribution channels.

The reports of some of the lead firms like Canalys, International Data Corporation, cybermedia research, counterpoint research stated that we had noticed a sharp decline in the Apple’s Market in the first half of the financial year 2018. One of the analyst from lead form Canalys even called, it’s the first year for Apple. All of the forms as mentioned above also added that share drop is expected to be the same in another half of 2018.

 

 

Reasons for Drop Share

For this share drop, experts quoted that entry of extraordinary players like Samsung, one plus mix its competition intense. The excellent market share of one plus 6 and Samsung Premium phones like S9 and Note 8 causes trouble to Apple.

One of the analysts from counterpoint research stated that the premium segment of the company noticed The Fall of 20% in the first quarter of 2018. Reports suggested that it was 43% last year in the same quarter. The overall market share of Apple fell down to 2%.

The analyst said that They wants to turn around in the Indian market again they must examine the heterogeneity of Indian market. Manufacturing more products at affordable prices main attract consumer towards it.

Shipment of their products noticed a rise in between 2014-2017. But the shipment in the first half of 2018 was 30% lower than the figures for corresponding periods last year. The figures mentioned above is picked up from IDC.

 

 

Ingram Micro and Redington are the two official Apple’s distrubution partners. There have been strict guidelines from the company to retailers that no additional discounts would be offered.
