7 People Dead After Speeding Bus Rams Into A Truck Full Of Tiles On Agra-Lucknow Expressway, 40 Reported Injured

On Saturday night, 7 people were killed after a speeding private bus rammed into a truck that was full of tiles on the Agra-Lucknow express, officials said that the accident happened near the village of Kanjhara, 40 people which includes 2 tourists from Spain attained serious injuries from the accident.

The deceased have been identified as:

  • 28-year-old Shahshank Yadav from Rae Bareli
  • 36-year-old Shashir Shukla from Lucknow
  • 7-year-old Vidushi Shukla the daughter of Shashir Shukla
  • 22-year-old Tinku Singh Chauhan from Kanpur Dehat
  • 21-year-old Shivam Singh Chauhan from Kanpur Dehat
  • 57-year-old Mohan Lal Gupta from Varanasi
  • 22-year-old Ashish Singh from Varanasi

Officials said that the accident happened at Milestone 87 of the Karhal Police Jurisdiction of Mainpuri District.

Officials said that the speeding private bus full with passengers was on its way to Varanasi and was coming from New Delhi, it hit the truck by 10:45 PM.

The 40 injured people were rushed to the Saifai Medical College.

Rakesh Kumar Pandey, the Circle Officer of the Karhal Police Station said, “It seems that the unidentified bus driver fell asleep on the steering wheel and lost control over the vehicle. The impact of the accident was so fierce, that a quarter of the bus turned into scrap metal. Our dial 100 team which was one km away from the accident site was the first to respond.”

He added, Pandey further said, “The constables broke open the windowpane of the AC bus with a rifle butt in order to release the smoke and rescue the suffocating passengers. Later, more police personnel arrived and retrieved the bodies from the mangled remained of the bus.”
