An 8-year-old girl from Pakistan was tortured and killed by her owners for setting the pet parrots free.
8-year-old Zohra Shah, who was employed illegally as a domestic worker by a couple in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, was reportedly killed for accidentally setting the birds free.
Zia Uddin, the Rawalpindi police superintendent, revealed on Sunday that Zohra opened the parrot cage to feed the birds, but instead they flew away.
After this, the employers of the girl beat her unconscious to punish her.
She had to be brought to the police, however, the owners abandoned her with life-threatening injuries.
She died of her injuries on Monday before Begum Akhtar Rukhsana Memorial Hospital called the police.
Authorities arrested 2 suspects.
According to an FIR (First Information Report):
The victim was brought to the hospital and was still alive. She had injuries on her face, hands, below her rib cage and legs. She also had wounds on her thighs, which suggested that she might have been sexually assaulted.
The police have arrested Hassan Siddiqui and his wife, the 2 owners of the 8-year-old girl.
The outlet reported that the 2 owners of the 8-year-old girl have confessed that they beat the child for setting the expensive parrots free.
The 8-year-old girl was repeatedly kicked, which has caused severe bleeding.
The suspects have not been charged formally as the police are waiting for more evidence about the killing of the girl.
The girl was employed 4 months ago to look after the 1-year-old toddler.
The coupled had offered to pay for Zohra’s education.
