The social media giant, Facebook is rolling out a new feature called Photo Magic which is a facial recognition feature that lets users customize the colors and emojis for every chat. Facebook is trying to squeeze some beneficial new features into Messenger before the year 2015 comes to an end. Facebook has been working on pushing new features and integrations into its standalone messaging app, Messenger. This new Photo Magic feature makes use of facial recognition technology to ease the process of sharing photos with your friends and family members, is rolling out widely to users all over the world.
Facebook will highlight Photo Magic feature in a Messenger update for the users of Apple’s iPhones and smartphones running Google’s Android software. The users will get an update whether they wish to activate Photo Magic so that they can get this new feature on their Messenger app. You can switch off this feature any time after the feature is turned on.
Once you give the app permission to access your photos, it then automatically offers to send the photo to any of your friends on Facebook if identified as being in the shot. This feature will be very much helpful for those whose constantly forgets to send photos around after a family event, party or some other occasion.
Photo Magic – Customize Your Chat, Photos & Many More
Photo Magic makes use of facial recognition algorithms that is capable of identifying people in photos and asks users create a group thread to share that particular photo with them. Once after creating a group thread, you can then tap either on ‘Send’ or ‘Cancel’ to send or discard the image. The feature can be turned OFF or ON at any time by going into the Messenger settings.
If you tap on ‘Try it’, it will also activate the feature whenever mentioned. You can also gain control over your presence in the timeline and tagging section on your other’s friend’s photos. The new update of Facebook Messenger also brings out a few other features that include the ability to customize conversations with many people and groups.
Apple iPhone users will be capable of renaming their friends and relatives in Messenger to what you actually call them, tap on the names of people at the top of a conversation to customize the family group thread color, and even change the emoji response from a thumbs up to something else. For Android, users can tap the info button at top right for similar features.
Facebook has also included an option that will enable users to change the colors of their exchanges with different friends, and change the formal name of a recipient to a nickname, such as “mom” or “dad.” You can even change the colors, nicknames and emojis any number of times when you’re in a conversation. Whenever you make a change the people in the conversation will be able to see the latest updates that you’ve selected.
On Android, users will encore see snowflakes tumbling for any chat heads that are open on the screen and Facebook will also make it snow directly in the conversation window whenever you send someone a “Santa, Christmas tree, or snow-related” emoji or sticker.
