The Gandhi Jayanti 2019 is an event that is celebrated everywhere in India to honor and celebrate the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who was born on October 2, 1869. Every year, India celebrates the Gandhi Jayanti, and on this day, the United Nations celebrates it as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Annually, the Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated by all the states and union territories of India. It is one of the declared national holidays of India and is one of the most celebrated holidays of the country.

To start the Gandhi Jayanti, followers of Gandhi Ji pray and thank him for the things he did for the country, and for helping the nation attain freedom from the rule of the British Empire.

Followers also visit the Gandhi Memorial in New Delhi, this is the place where he was cremated. People do commemorative ceremonies, prayers, meetings, rallies, and events to celebrate this day. All schools, institutions, local government institutions, and other government-run buildings are closed on this day.

Schools use this day for painting and essay competitions. This is done to promote the non-violent way of living, and to honor the efforts of Gandhi Ji in helping India attaining freedom.

The favorite song of Gandhi Ji, which is “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” is played all over in India on the Gandhi Jayanti 2019.

His statues all over in India are decorated with flowers and poojas are done on them. On this day, people avoid eating meat or drinking alcohol.
