Gangnam Style Music Video ‘broke’ YouTube View Limit With More Than 2.1 Billion Views

Remember Gangnam Style? The music video by South Korean singer Psy has traveled to another landmark with today’s preceding. The music video has exceeded YouTube’s view limit. Fans of K-Pop star Psy, and his equestrian-inspired dance moves, have pushed YouTube’s view counter past its limits by watching his video for “Gangnam Style”. The ridiculously viral hit has been viewed more than 2.14 billion times, forcing YouTube to retool its counter. Earlier it was said by YouTube that Psy’s Gangnam Style has earned the maximum views so far – 2.000,000,000 +. Now the views stand at 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 which is more than nine quintillion.

Gangnam Style video breaks YouTube’s view limit:

In 2012, the world became unaccountably fascinated with the music video for “Gangnam Style,” South Korean rapper Psy’s surreal dance jam. It featured garishly colored outerwear, speedboats, and a splay-legged dance destined to be performed at weddings and proms the world over. Naturally, it soon became the most watched video in YouTube history, and has since pulled so far ahead of its nearest competitor (as of now, Justin Bieber’s “Baby”) that it’s hard to imagine it ever being surpassed. In fact, “Gangnam Style” recently amassed so many views, YouTube’s view counter broke trying to add them all up, forcing the site to change the way it tallies page visits.

‘Gangnam Style’ breaks YouTube

A statement by YouTube read: “We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met PSY. “’Gangnam Style’ has been viewed so many times we had to upgrade to a 64-bit integer (9,223,372,036,854,775,808)!”
