On January 14, 2021, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh will be celebrating Bhogi, the first day of the 4-day long Pongal Festival.

They will also be celebrating Makara Sankranti.

Some people believe Bhogi is like the new year of the people that live in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh.

On this day, people get rid of their old things and buy new things, which are supposed to bring good luck and new beginnings for the family that have gotten those things.

At the evening of this day, people light a  bonfire with logs of wood along with other solid-fuels and wooden furniture at home that are no longer useful.

People throw the old belongings in the fire. Such things include furniture and things that are no longer useful for anyone.,
