Lohri is a popular winter festival that is celebrated by the region of Punjab. This festival is celebrated to commemorate the passing of the winter solstice, which means it is the last day of winter and people celebrate a new beginning, hence the new year.

This day is celebrated the night before Makar Sankranti, which is also known as Maghi. Lohri falls on the same date everyday, January 13.

Lohri is an official restricted holiday in the state of Punjab, Haryana, and some parts of New Delhi. This festival is celebrated by Sikhs, Muslims, Hindus, Christians, and other religions.
