Muharram is the first month in the calendar of Islam, it is one of the 4 sacred months of the year which warfare is forbidden. It is held to be the second holiest month. The holiest month in the Islamic calendar is Ramadan.

Muharram, which is also known as ٱلْمُحَرَّم‎, is the first month of the Islamic calendar and the general meaning of this word is “banned, barred, forbidden, illegal, illicit, impermissible, prohibited, unlawful, unauthorized, unpermitted.”
