The Mahabharata is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India. Traditionally, the authorship of the Mahabharata is attributed to the great sage Veda Vyasa. With about one hundred thousand verses, long prose passages, or about 1.8 million words in total, the Mahabharata is roughly ten times the length of the Iliad and Odyssey combined or about four times the length of the Ramayana. It has been called Mahabharata due to the immense size and its dealing with the story of the people of the race descended from the ancient emperor Bharata, culminating in the war.
However, for those of us who do not have the time or are just too lazy to make an effort to read hundreds of pages of text, we bring to you the story of Mahabharat in these 35 compact posters.
Disclaimer: These posters are not a complete guide to texts of Mahabharat but a short compilation of major events. The posters are inspired by Devdutt Patnaik who tweeted the story on March 27, 2014.
