The Parana Ekadashi is done after sunrise on the next day of the Ekadashi fast. Parana means breaking the fast, and it is obligatory to do the Parana within the Dwadashi Tithi unless the Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Failing to do Parana within Dwadashi means you are committing an offense. Also, the Parana should not be done during the Hari Vasara.

One thing you should keep in mind is that you should wait for the Hari Vasara to get over before breaking your fast. The most preferred time to break the fast is during the Pratahkal. You should avoid breaking the fast during the Madhyahna. Ekadashi fasting is recommended to be done for 2 consecutive days. High priests advise that Smartha with the family should be observed on the first day only.
