A man from the United States of America is currently making headlines all over the internet because of the good act that they carried out.
Michael Esmond, who is from Gulf Breeze, Florida, paid the bills of 114 families that were at risk of having their utilities cut off.
The man, who is 74 right now, paid a total of $7,615.40 to cover the overdue bills of the family members.
During an interview with CNN News, Michael said:
Hurricane Sally slammed us pretty good and hurt a lot of people. We still have a lot of the blue roofs here, where they’re just covered with tarps. I have been down on my luck like people are today, where I had trouble paying bills and raising three daughters. The gas company shut the gas off and we didn’t have any heat. I can relate to people suffering and not being able to pay bills. That’s probably one of the biggest motivators for me, because I’ve been there.
Well, this is not the first time he had done something like this.
The man paid the bills of 36 households last year. That cost him around $4,600.
Despite this ongoing pandemic, the man managed to do a good thing and even ended up helping more families this year.
Talking about his kind act, the man said:
That really impacted me – that people can’t even afford to pay a $100 bill on their utilities and things are so bad. That’s why I was able to pay for 114 families. This year to me probably is more meaningful than last year with the pandemic and all the people out of work having to stay home. People can’t afford to pay their bills and put food on the table, so I hope doing my part and paying some bills for these folks takes a little bit of stress off of them around Christmas time.
Michael owns the Gulf Breeze Pools and Spas, and despite the year being bad, the man said he has earned some good money this year.
He also said that he felt ashamed by this success despite people suffering because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
So because they had a good year, the man said he wanted to share it with people that actually needed it.
The bills that Michael got to pay were of people that were 60 days overdue.
