21-Year-Old Hyderabad Student Commits Suicide After He Failed To Repay Rs. 40,000 To Friend

A 21-year-old student from Hyderabad committed suicide on August 4, 2019, because he failed to repay a large sum of money that he lost in a bet. He borrowed the money from a friend and decided to bet it on a cricket match.

The police also recovered a hand-written suicide.

Murli Krishna,  the Circle Inspector of the SR Nagar Police Station, said, “On August 4, a 21-year-old BSc final year student Ravi committed suicide by hanging himself to death.”

Inspector Krishna added, “Upon receiving the information, we shifted his body to the government hospital for the postmortem. Subsequently, a case has been registered under Section 174 of CrPC and we took up investigation.”

Investigating officers recovered a suicide note that was written by Ravi, it revealed that he borrowed Rs. 40,000 from his friend and lost it in a cricket bet.

Inspector Krishna continued, “Today, we have found a suicide note written by Ravi. The note revealed that he had placed a bet of Rs. 40,000 on a cricket match which he lost. His friend was continuously asking him to return the money.”

The police have registered the suicide case under the Indian Penal Code Section 306.

The police have identified the friend of Ravi and are currently trying to detain him for questioning.
