Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh: A 22-year-old mute and deaf woman was raped by 5 men in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The police have arrested the 5 suspects.

The incident happened on the evening of August 25, in a village that falls under the jurisdiction of the Marwahi Police Station.

SHO (Station House Officer) Pradip Arya said that the 22-year-old woman was returning to her home when the suspect forced her to ride his motorcycle.

The man brought her to an area where he and 4 other men raped her.

After gang-raping the helpless woman, the 5 men left her alone.

The 22-year-old disabled woman managed to go home after the incident and narrated the entire incident by using sign language.

The family members brought the 22-year-old woman to the Marwahi Police Station and lodged a complaint against the men.

The police brought in a sign language translator so they could ask questions to the mute and deaf woman.

The police have arrested Dole Kujur, Sanjiv Kumar Uraon, Suraj Lahre, Krishna Kujur, and Gauri Shankar Uraon.

The police registered a case against the 5 men under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

A probe has been launched into the incident.
