Young Girl In India Raped By 6 Men Until She Lost Consciousness And Got Her Head Shaved During A Punishment Parade In Her Village

A young girl in Gaya, Bihar, was raped by 6 men until she lost consciousness and had her head shaved during a punishment parade in her village.

According to reports, the 6-year-old girl was kidnapped by the 6 men when she went to the toilet and was dragged to the roof of the village’s Panchayat (a government-system of a village) Building.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was raped by the 6 men until she passed out on August 14, 2019.

A neighbor of the girl saw her lying unconscious and told her about their daughter.

The parents took their daughter home and reported the incident to the panchayat.

Instead of helping the poor girl, the panchayat head of the village decided the girl to be punished.

The girl was forced to march in the entire village while her head was shaved.

It is reported that the panchayat head is under the influence of the family members of the accused people.

An FIR (First Information Report) was made at a police station in Gaya Bihar 11 days after the rape crime happened in the village.

The police only decided to help the family of the girl after the young girl and her mother reached out to a district officer.

Niranjana Kumari, a police officer in Gaya, Bihar, said they have arrested 6 people so far.

During an interview, Officer Kumari said, “All the five panchayat members, who held the meeting and ordered the punishment, have been named as accused in the case under the POCSO [Protection of Children from Sexual Offence] Act and have been detained.”

She added, “Besides, Devlal Yadav, who was identified by the survivor as one of the six accused of the gangrape, has also been detained.”

The young girl has not been able to identify other people who are involved in the rape case.

Dilmani Mishra, the Chairperson of the Bihar Women Commission said that the women commission’s office is going to be involved in the case and added that she already has requested a report of the case.

Chairperson Mishra said she has asked the Senior Superintendent of the Gaya Police to bring the members of the Panchayat to be brought to the Commission’s Office by the 2nd of September, 2019.
