75-Year-Old Indian Woman Delivers Premature Baby Girl In India Through IVF

Kota, Rajasthan: A 75-year-old woman, whose identity was not shared with the public, gave birth to a baby girl in Rajasthan with the help of IVF on the evening of October 12, 2019.

The baby girl, who currently weighs at 600 grams, was shifted to the NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit) after she was born.

The mother is currently admitted to Kinkar Hospital in Kota, Rajasthan.

A team of pediatricians is currently looking after the underweight child.

According to Dr. Abhilasha Kinkar, a doctor who is taking care of the woman and the child, the elderly woman has an adopted child, but she wanted to have a child of her own and came to the doctors with the hopes of becoming a mother.

Dr. Kinkar said, “The elderly woman had no child and she had adopted a boy of their relatives but her daughter-in-law used to beat her after which she decided to give birth to a child of her own.”

The unnamed woman said she wanted to try IVF.

Dr. Kinkar said the elderly woman went through a C-section surgery and had to deliver the baby while it was still in 6.5 months of pregnancy.

The emergency surgery was done due to the physical state of the elderly woman, who only had one lung.

The elderly woman belongs to a family of farmers, and she has a rural background.

When the woman came to them, Dr. Kinkar said the elderly woman insisted to have her own baby.

The baby is still under NICU and will stay there until she is well and healthy.
