9 Students Killed In Car-Truck Accident In Solapur-Pune Highway

Solapur, Pune: 9 students were killed after a car got hit by a truck on the Pune-Solapur Highway earlier today.

The police said that the accident happened at 1:30 am today near the Kadamwak Wasti.

The deceased are said to be 19 to 23 years old.

Officer Suraj Bandgar of the Loni Kalbhor Police Station said, “The deceased, who were in the age group of 19 to 23 years, were residents of Yavat in Pune district and returning to their hometown from Raigad.”

He added, “The car was being driven at a high speed. After reaching Kadamwak Wasti, the driver lost control over the car and the vehicle first hit a divider and then collided with the truck after landing on the other side of the highway.”

Officer Bandgar continued, “Local residents and police saw that one of the occupants was making some movement and he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. However, he was declared brought dead.”

Officer Bandgar said that the vehicle of the students was over-speeding and it got hit by the truck after the driver of the car lost control over it.

The police said that 8 out of the 9 passengers of the vehicle passed away on the spot.

The police have launched an investigation for the accident and are currently asking questions from the toll plaza near the accident area.

Reports suggest that the employees of the toll plaza said that the vehicle went through the toll and was also over-speeding.
