“Cops Unwilling To Register Complaint”: 32-Year-Old Indian Woman Kidnapped And Gang-Raped By 10 Men

Agartala, Tripura: A 32-year-old woman claims she was kidnapped and gang-raped by 10 men on September 24, 2019, when she was on her way to her home.

The woman and her family also claimed that the police officers failed to register the case on time and caused a delay in arrested the men.

As of now, the police have arrested 6 of the suspects who allegedly raped the woman.

The 32-year-old woman, whose identity was not shared with the public, is currently recovering at a government-run hospital in Agartala.

Biplab Deb, the Chief Minister of Tripura, has tasked the Agartala Police to arrest the 10 men as fast as they can.

Local government officials have also asked the police and the authorities to hand out an exemplary punishment for the 10 men.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the 32-year-old woman was kidnapped by an auto-rickshaw driver when she was on her way to her home on the evening of September 24, 2019.

The auto-rickshaw driver took her to a secluded area where 9 other men came in and raped her.

She was then dumped near a government circuit in Agartala.

She was found by the authorities on the early morning of September 25, 2019.

According to the police, the woman knew the driver of the rickshaw she was traveling in and told him to drop him home.

But instead of going on the normal route to her home, the driver brought her to a secluded area where 2 men jumped in.

When she tried to raise an alarm, the men thrashed her and took her to an isolated area where she was forced to get into a vehicle.

She was then brought deserted area of Agartala, where 10 people raped her.

The husband of the 32-year-old woman said the police did not want to register their case at first.

According to Congress, an opposition party, the police failed to take action right away as the local BJP MLA (Mayor) was protecting the 10 rapists.

The Agartala police are yet to release an official statement about the incident.
