Resident Doctor At SMS Hospital Jaipur Commits Suicide After Being Harassed By 5 Senior Doctors

Sakshi Gupta, a 24-year-old resident doctor at the SMS Hospital In Jaipur, committed suicide on July 17, 2019, family members of Gupta said that she was being harassed by the senior doctors of the hospital.

Gupta is a first-year postgraduate gynecology student, that is actually from Fazilka, Punjab, she was assigned at the Mahila Chikitsalay Women’s Hospital as an Intern.

The Mahila Chikitsalay Hospital is under the supervision of SMS Medical College and Hospital.

The parents of Sakshi Gupta said that their 24-year-old daughter was harassed by 5 of the senior doctors of the hospital.

Investigations revealed that Sakshi spoke with her mother on the phone and told her about what was happening in the hospital.

Officials said that Sakshi told her mother about the pressure at the hospital and that she was being harassed by her seniors in the hospital.

On the morning of July 17, 2019, Sakshi missed her classes and when her room in the hostel was checked, officials found Sakshi hanging.

The police did not find any suicide note from the room of Sakshi, but, the parents of Sakshi registered a case and have named the 5 senior students who allegedly harassed Sakshi.

The body of Sakshi Gupta has been sent for an Autopsy.

The police said that the investigation has started.
