Stressed Elderly Couple Commit Suicide Over Fear Of Being Infected With Coronavirus
Amritsar, Punjab: A stressed couple from Punjab reportedly committed suicide as they feared to contract the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to the Amritsar Police, the dead bodies of 57-year-old Balwinder Singh and 55-year-old Gurjinder Kaur were found inside their house.
The couple was residents of the Sathiala Village in Amritsar.
Harkrishan Singh, the Deputy Superintendent of the Police of Baba Bakala area, said authorities found a suicide note inside the house.
The couple wrote that they ended their lives due to the coronavirus.
57-year-old Balwinder Singh and 55-year-old Gurjinder Kaur did not have any signs of the coronavirus.
The Amritsar Police and health officials have launched an investigation for the incident.
