The most awaited quarter-final match of the ICC Champions Trophy tournament between India and South Africa came to an end with a good note yesterday. Team India’s easy win by 8 wickets and a huge net run rate is simply a moment of celebration for all the Indian fans. Despite the loss to Sri Lanka in the second match, Team India managed to do well in the third match.
Out of many attractions in the series of matches, if you had seen the India-Pakistan match, then you must remember the viral image of the Liquor baron Vijay Mallya that left social media in splits. The Liquor baron was caught on cameras quite a number of times on TV and social media had buzz over the pictures of Mallya watching the match recently.
However, Mallya took to Twitter to make his intentions clear. He wrote, “ I intend to attend all games to cheer the India team.”
Although Mallya attending Indian matches is something we can understand, but the special appearance at Kohli’s charity event and that too without being invited is something we can’t digest. However, he got royally ignored by the Indian cricket team at the event.
As result, many Indian fans bashed him for such sick behavior with the team India. However, this did not stop Mallya from attending India’s match on Sunday. Yes, he attended with full swing again on the cricket stands like a boss.
But the Business Tycoon faced quite an embarrassing and awkward moment at the match as the many cricket fans chanted “chor, chor” (thief, thief) as he arrived to watch the India vs South Africa ICC Champions Trophy match yesterday.
The 61-year-old chief of the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines, who has been living in self-imposed exile in Britain since last year and is facing extradition proceedings in UK courts, walked speedily past Indian fans outside the stadium.
“Chor gaya chor (there goes a thief) and chor, chor (thief, thief),” were among the chants that could be heard from the crowds.
