Do you realise what radical people assume when a black cat crosses their path? They say she might just be going someplace and is not there to bring horrific bad fortune to you. She has better places to be, buddy.

Indians shine on superstition, or maybe it is the other way round. We have so many absurd opinions connected to so many things – breaking of a mirror, a black cat crossing your path, boiling of milk, etc.

Latest to this superstition is dumping cow dung on a person to cure them of snakebite.

A 35-year-old women Devendri, living in Bulandshahr area of Uttar Pradesh’s was bitten by a snake while collecting wood outside in fields for some household errands. She rushed home to inform her husband about the snake bite.

Now, instead of acting like a sane person by taking her to the hospital, the husband called a snake charmer. To get the poison out of her body and heal her.

The husband wrapped his wife with cow dung and made a mountain out of cow’s shit over her body on the snake charmers suggestion. While all this time the snake charmer was chanting mantras. The poor women died due to obvious reasons.

It’s difficult to understand how people can believe in black magic and fake mantras over medically proven treatments. The hospitals and doctors would have no patients if this method worked.
