SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali series has proved many impossible things, this movie successfully bashed out the idea of giving importance to the sole lead actors. It must be mentioned that the depiction of Prabhas as Baahubali & Sivudu, Anushka as Devasena, Ramya Krishan as Rajamata Sivagami and Sathya Raj as Kattappa is nerve gripping, the actors were soundly present in intensifying the layers of the characters.

It can be exclusively said that amidst all those prominent roles the character of Sivagami was so crucial that she simply stole the show with that gutsy gait and gallant voice. Post the movie, the actress was widely appreciated for her amazing performance, now viewers can’t imagine any other actor playing that role.

Back then sources from the movie crew claimed that Ramya Krishnan was not the only actor asked to play the role, the popular veteran actress Sridevi was approached earlier, and her denial in the role gave an opportunity to Ramya Krishnan.

Speaking about this, SS Rajamouli was quoted saying, “We respect Srideviji a lot. And yes, she was the first choice for Sivagami. This was very early in the project, when we approached her, her husband, Boney Kapoor, quoted a staggering fee. Plus, he wanted a share of the Baahubali profits. We dropped the idea immediately, though we were very keen on casting Srideviji. Later, we came to know she did a Tamil film (Puli), where she was given the fee that her husband wanted.”

After this, social media went crazy over blaming Sridevi, and in a bid to clear the air on this issue, after nearly two months, the actress has opened up to the media making shocking revelations:

“I have avoided talking about it for a long time. But, once and for all, I want to clear the air. There are rumors that I asked about Rs 10 crore for the role, including an entire floor in a hotel and 10 flight tickets etc” she said.

“I have been in the industry for about 50 years and acted in more than 300 films. Do you think I could have accomplished all of this by making such demands? People in the industry would have sent me packing if I was like that. But, when you hear such things about yourself, you really get hurt. I don’t know if the producer wrongly told Rajamouli that I made all these demands or there could have been some miscommunication. I think it is not in good taste to speak on a public platform like this” added the 53-Year-Old actress.

She then concluded saying:

“I never took anything about this matter to the heart. But, I saw a Rajamouli interview and I was shocked and hurt by it. I have heard about Rajamouli, he is a calm and dignified person. I have seen his movie Eega and was very happy to work with him. He is a great technician but the way he spoke about the issue made me feel very sad.”

With these words, Sridevi shocked everyone and Rajamouli now reacted saying that he shouldn’t have talked about it at all, he regretted his earlier statements saying:

“As for whose version to believe, I guess it is for people to decide. But one thing is for sure. I shouldn’t have discussed the details on a public platform. That’s a mistake. And I regret it.”

“I have huge respect for Srideviji as a flag-bearer of the southern film industries in Mumbai for many years. I wish her all the best. And I wish Mom a big success as the trailer looks very intriguing and promising” added Rajamouli.

Now, when talking about Ramya Krishnan’s performance? Be it Rajamouli’s efforts or the actress’ in-depth journey into the character, no one can take their eyes off the screen while the valiant Sivagami passes orders. We cannot assume the scales of acting by both the actresses as Ramya Krishnan has left no stone unturned in bringing the ultimate momentum on the screen.
