Many people visit India to explore its diverse cultures, environment, and various other interesting aspects. However, spirituality remains as the top-most subject for any western citizens. We can recognize hundreds of tourists from various countries taking photographs, sharing their experiences in their blogs and what not? this is endless.

But these days, things are taking different turns. Starting off from the Swiss couple who were touring the Taj Mahal city “Agra” who was brutally beaten up with sticks, another incident took place now. And, with this incident, it appears like the Northern part of India might lose its earlier charm for tourists.

While, in the recent incident, a German tourist, Holger Ereek, was beaten up allegedly by a railway contractor for not ‘acknowledging’ his greeting at the Robertsganj Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra on Saturday. Later, the injured tourist was referred to Mirzapur hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the accused, Aman Kumar and Circle officer Vivekanand Tiwarihas have been arrested by the police and an investigation in the case is underway. Kumar claimed innocence and said the German tourist attacked him first when he said “Welcome to India” to him. Kumar has even alleged that the tourist spat on him, according to media reports. The victim has refused to talk to the media.

Sources claim that Ereek was allegedly beaten up by railway supervisor Aman Kumar on Saturday after which the station master informed the police, the railway supervisor enquired the German national about his well-being, which angered him.

And, the German tourist ‘hit’ the railway employee, who might have pushed him in retaliation. Based on the complaints of the two, non- cognizable reports have been registered.
