After the news of rodent in Air India flight, there is news doing rounds that bedbugs were found infested in Air India’s overseas flights as passengers in business class of Mumbai-bound aircraft from the United States this week complained about some crawling insects on board. One of the insects even bit an infant. Yesterday, some sources alleged that a baby was bitten by the bed bugs on board flight from Newark-Mumbai flight. Due to the disturbance, other passengers got agitated and as a result, the flight got delayed on its onward journey to Delhi.
The passengers on board in a flight on Tuesday from the US to Mumbai also complained about their unpleasant experience and one of them posted on his Twitter account. “Just arrived from New York on Air India 144 business class with family. All our seats infested with bed bugs. Sir, have heard of bed bugs on trains but shocked to experience on our maharaja and that too business,” Pravin Tonsekar tweeted and tagged the airline and the Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu.
In another tweet, he further said that his “wife and daughters had to suffer half of the journey sitting in economy seats with broken tables and inoperative TV”. “We are sorry to hear this, Mr. Pravin. Sharing the details with our maintenance team for corrective measures in this regard,” the airline tweeted in its reply.
The Air India spokesperson was asked for a comment in this regard. Last year, in August, a rat was seen on Air India’s Delhi-San Francisco flight forcing the flight to delay for at least nine hours for its departure. The flight is one of the longest haul flights in the world.
More than 200 passengers were onboard the flight. As soon as the aircraft was taken to the parking bay, it was fumigated for as long as six hours.
The fleet Air India was in the news in recent times all for the wrong reasons. As given above in this news that even business class of the flight is not able to maintain its standards of cleanliness and service. The state-owned company is not able to make profits from past many years and is running into losses. Such conditions have forced the government to take a decision in this regards and are has already invited bids to sell it off. But none came up to make a bid for buying the company.
