A factory worker from southeast China decided to place a half meter long eel into his anus with the hopes of curing his constipation problems.

The 49-year-old factory worker, who has been identified as Mr. Liu, was rushed to a hospital with extreme stomach pain.

When the doctors decided to conduct some tests and scans, they were in complete shock.

The doctors found an Asian Swamp Eel in his stomach along with food residue and feces.

According to Guangdong Television, a local news agency in southeast China, Mr. Liu was brought to the hospital with a constipation problem.

At first, the doctors diagnosed the man with bowel obstruction and recommended that he would stay at the hospital for treatment.

Instead of staying at the hospital for treatment, the man decided to treat his constipation by placing an eel into his anus.

In case you’re wondering why would someone place an eel in his anus? Well, in traditional Chinese medicine, placing an eel is believed to treat constipation.

Instead of curing the constipation, the eel caused major stomach pain.

The man was then rushed to the Guangzhou Dongren Hospital, where the doctors found a hole in the duodenum area.

The doctors were also shocked to find an eel in the intestines of the 49-year-old man.

The eel that was removed by the doctors was a whopping 1.64 feet long Asian Swamp Eel that weighed about 250 grams and had a head that was nearly 2 inches wide.

The doctors also recovered feces and food residue inside the stomach.

During an interview with Dr. Zhao Zhirong, a surgeon at the Guangzhou Dongren Hospital, Dr. Zhao said that the 49-year-old patient did not explain or tell them that he had an eel inside him.

Dr. Zhao said, “We asked Mr. Liu when we spotted the eel in his stomach, he said the eel went into his anus by mistake. But after the surgery, he told us that he actually put an eel inside his anus himself.”

Dr. Zhao added that the situation could have been worse if the 49-year-old worker waited for more time to come to the hospital.

The 49-year-old Liu explained that he inserted the eel to treat his symptoms instead of staying at the hospital for treatment.

When the doctors took the eel out of his intestines, the eel was already dead.

It is still not clear if the eel was alive when the 49-year-old worker inserted it in his anus.
