A man from Australia is currently facing aggravated cruelty charges after their dog passed away due to being locked inside a vehicle on a hot day.

The 5-year-old dog of the man, which was reportedly a Rottweiler, was kept inside the vehicle for a number of hours.

Reports suggest that the incident happened at Padstow, Sydney, on December 7, 2020.

A passer-by noticed the animal inside the car, while it was looking distressed.

The kind person called Triple Zero, hoping that they will arrive on time and save the pooch.

When police officers from the Bankstown Traffic and Highway Patrol arrived at the scene, they found out that the engine was running, but it was not keeping the dog safe.

The dog was rushed to a local vet, but the experts there declared the pooch dead.

The owner of the car was not identified by the authorities.

The police issued the 49-year-old owner of the car with a Court Attendance Notice.

The notice was issued because they committed an act of aggravated cruelty upon an animal, leaving a vehicle engine on, and not removing the ignition key while no person was inside it.

NSW Police released a statement about the incident, where they said:

Motorists are reminded it is never okay to leave children, the elderly, or pets unattended in a car – even with the air conditioning running.

The man will be appearing in a Bankstown Local Court on January 14, 2021.
