Dead Body Of Homeless Man Found Hanging Near Famous Statue In Central Park

New York, USA:  Dead body of man found hanging near a famous children’s attraction in New York City’s Central Park.

The police were called to the scene on the morning of Sunday after a passerby spotted the body.

The discovery was made at 6 am on February 23, 2020.

According to reports, the body was discovered near the Alice in Wonderland Statue.

The statue is a popular attraction for children near East 74th Street and Fifth Avenue.

Images of the scene showed police officers standing around on what appeared to be a dead body in black plastic.

It is still not clear how long the dead body hanged near the statue before the police arrived at the scene.

According to the New York Post, the man was in his 40s and is believed to have been homeless.

The man was wearing a black sweatshirt, sneakers, and jeans.

59-year-old Stacey Feldman, an eyewitness, said, “We were taking our normal walk in Central Park and then we saw all these cop cars.”

59-year-old Michael Gunzberg, another eyewitness, said, “It makes you realize how fragile people’s lives are.”

The Alice in Wonderland Statue has been at Central Park since 1959 and it shows Alice enjoying the Madhatter’s Tea Party with her friends.

The statue was donated by Philanthropist George Delacorte as a gift to the children of New York City.
