Police caught red handedly the two staff workers and employees of a private hospital of Suryapet on Wednesday after being made alert about the incident. Responding to about the incident, DSP MA Rasheed of Suryapet responded saying one more accused in the case was absconding. Suryapet DSP MA Rasheed said, “We have arrested two employees Prashant and Venkanna. They have facilitated the sale of the newborn girl.” Deputy Superintendent of Suryapet MA Rasheed also briefed that though the investigation is on to find whether the infant baby girl child has been really sold to raise the money to pay the hospital bill or existence any other reasons and conspiracies behind the sale of girl child by the hospital staff.

Police cops assured that the baby girl child was restored with the parents and were given counselling. Seeking an action over the hospital and the people involved in this act, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights issued notices to the Nalgonda District Collector and ordered to submit a detailed Action Taken Report (ATR) by July 6. Member of Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Achyutha Rao asserted that the hospital had adjusted the money raised from the sale of the baby against the medical bill. In a notice issued by the commission he said, “This is an serious violation of child rights.”

Although responding to the arresting incident a doctor of accused Shiva Sai Hospital, Suryapet, Dr. Ramchandra Nayak said that “the woman, Janamma, was discharged on June 19 and the incident took place after the mother and the child left the hospital. “The total hospital bill was Rs 11,000 and the parents paid Rs 10,000. We did not insist on payment of the balance amount.” As per the official reports it was found that the mother of baby girl child sold, Janamma was a resident of Yenubamula village in S Atmakur Mandal of Nalgonda district and was admitted to the private hospital on June 13 for delivery.
