A plane that was carrying 136 passengers crashed in a river that is located near the Florida airport.
Officials and emergency services were rushed to the crash site, which is the Naval Air Station, located near Jacksonville. The incident occurred on Friday night and after they landed.
All passengers that were on board the airplane have been evacuated safely.
The plane carried a total of 143 people, which includes 7 members of the crew and a total of 136 passengers.
Officials added that no person sustained injuries from the incident. But, the officials had to bring 21 people to a hospital near the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to make sure that everyone was alright.
The office of the sheriff in Jacksonville confirmed that 21 people were brought to a hospital nearby.
Officials said that the plane skidded away and left uncontrolled in a small river. Officials have also started an operation that will remove all the jet fuel that was spilled in the river.
The office of the sheriff also confirmed that no one attained serious injuries from the crash and all passengers have been removed safely from the aircraft.
The exact reason about what caused the plane to skid away from the runway has not been released.
The aircraft was carrying passengers from the US Military Base in Cuba, officials added that most passengers on the Miami Air Flight were military personnel.
The wife of a passenger that was on the plane said, “My husband coming off deployment is on this plane.”
Lawyer Cheryl Bormann, a passenger of the flight added, “We came down, the plane literally hit the ground and bounced, it was clear the pilot did not have total control of the plane, it bounced again.”
The lawyer said that the experience of the incident is totally “terrifying”.
Lenny Curry, the mayor of Jacksonville said that the White House has contacted him and also asked him if they needed help.
Despite the crash, the 18-year-old aircraft only attained minimal damage.
Authorities have launched a probe for the incident.
