The government’s demonetisation drive has resulted in the replacement of Old notes with New 500 and 2000 notes. A lot of rumors are circulated about the new notes. While an earlier one claimed the Rs 2000 note came with a Nano-GPS chip to prevent hoarding, there are now apps in the Play Store claiming to verify the authenticity of the new notes.
The Modi Keynote app, released on Google Play on November 12, and had as many as 4 million downloads, being used by people to check if their Rs 2,000 and Rs 500 notes are authentic or fake, despite the fact that Barra Skull Studios – the developers of the app – clearly stated in their Google Play description that it was just for fun.

Modi Keynote App Is Fake:
The app description says: “Modi KeyNote app is created for entertainment purpose to spread the message of our honorable PM Modi Ji and the app will help to fight against black money. Just download this app, place the camera in front of your new 500 or 2000 note, within 10 sec camera will scan your note and play Modi Ji Video Speech.”
Modi Keynote has been removed from the Google Play app store, but it has given rise to many a copycat, which aim to cater to users looking for the much-reported app in the original’s absence. The ‘fake’ app, automatically gets excessive permission including full network access and ability to take pictures and videos once downloaded. The original Narendra Modi app, on the other hand, only gets access to read, modify and delete user’s media files.

The developers believed that this would have been an effective way to pass on the prime minister’s message to all the people.
