We have seen people perform badly in their duties and later blame it on their personal life and issues. But, there are few people who won’t let any excuse interfere in their duty. Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who is currently playing the 4th test match of India Vs South Africa series in New Delhi, showed the world that no amount of personal problems could come in the way of his national duties.
With Chennai in the midst of the worst rains it has ever seen in over 100 years, at least 280 people have died, while hundreds were missing and no contact can be established with them. Among them were R. Ashwin’s parents who were missing and out of contact for the past 24 hours.
When Ashwin went in to bat yesterday, India was struggling at 198/7, but the spinner didn’t give into his emotions and despite all the turmoil and anguish, Ashwin still managed to score a half-century and steady his team’s ship. Meanwhile, his wife Prithi Ashwin was tweeting for help to get in touch with them.
Thoughts with Ashwin, who is batting right now. We have not heard from his parents in over 24hours. I can only pray he keeps his strength.

However, an hour later, her prayers were answered. While Ashwin steered India to safety, his wife was finally able to establish contact with them. Ashwin’s wife Prithi took to Twitter: “Heard from them. They are fine and safe. Good God. Thank you. I want to hug the person who came up with Whatsapp calls.”

Ashwin who has been consistently delivering great performances during the ongoing series against South Africa would have been sorely missed if he had to skip the ongoing match. Well, we can only say, R Ashwin you have not only been winning matches for India but also our hearts with your dedication. Respect!
