Sunday 7th December 2014 was a big day for the tennis sport lovers and fans of India as thousands of lucky tennis fans experienced a lifetime moment when they watched global icon Roger Federer play on Indian soil for the first time at the Delhi leg of the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL). The 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer made his debut in the Coca-Cola IPTL in front of a packed stadium in Delhi. It was a perfect India debut for Federer, who along with Sania Mirza blanked Bruno Soares and Daniela Hantuchova 6-0 before winning his men’s singles against Tomas Berdych and men’s doubles with Rohan Bopanna. The Indian Aces faced the Singapore Slammers in the first match of day 2 of the Indian leg.

Roger Federer who has been a promising player and sportsmen made his impressive debut even after playing his third consecutive set against Tomas Berdych and managed to beat Berdych 6-4 to round off an impressive debut. World number two Roger Federer hailed the new International Premier Tennis League as “crazy but fun” after sauntering through his debut matches in the Indian capital on Sunday. What can sports mens wish much more than victory thus was something similar with Roger Federer and it was a moment to celebrate. After winning his doubles and mixed doubles matches with Indian teammates Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna, Federer celebrated with a courtside dance, before teammate France’s Gael Monfils joined in.”It’s crazy but it’s good fun. I definitely think there’s a place for this,” Federer said, adding, “It’s competitive, it’s serious but it’s still light-hearted.”But despite the tiredness, Federer could not help but shake a leg with teammate Gael Monfils on the Bollywood number being played in the background after the Swiss star had completed his engagements of the day.
