‘Have To Fight Fanatics, Can’t Hide On Twitter’ Says Sonu Nigam, Shaves His Head

There are many incidents where celebrities simply bash over specific rules or people on twitter, these fights are limited to twitter baits, media hype and newspapers. But, the 43-Year-Old popular Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam is nothing less on the field.

Earlier, Sonu Nigam has curtained an another controversy by making some eccentric statements on the ‘Azaan-Muslim call for prayer’. He boldly took on to his twitter handle and went tweeting how he’s offended by the religious contexts. He questioned the necessity of broadcasting the announcement on loudspeakers from mosques in public.

Post his tweets, various Muslim extremists started storming his social media handles with threatening words. He responded to all of them, one of the popular Muslim clerics went forward making an offer that humiliated the singer, he in the announcement has said that any person who shaves Nigam’s head and garlands him with old shoes will be given an amount of Rs 10 Lakhs.

Stubborn Nigam didn’t give up here, he arranged for a press meet and said: “Shaving hair is no challenge or negativity, it’s a symbolic move – asking, what are you making this country? What are these fatwas?”

Early in the morning, Nigam once again tweeted ‘Keep Rs 10 Lakhs ready’.

Later added,  “You have to fight the fanatics, you can’t just hide and comment from Twitter.” He firmly took the warnings seriously and shaved off his head, the one who shove his head is Aalim, a Muslim barber.

Post the incident, Nigam has said:

“I consider myself secular, neither am I right wing or left wing and there are very few people like me, I am actually the minority community, It is a social topic, not a religious one.

“We live in the same country, your children will grow up here, I don’t want to be misunderstood,” Nigam even urged the media and everyone else not to misinterpret what he said.

After the prior tweets he made in the beginning, Nigam in his tweets mentioned that the sounds made by loudspeakers are the main issue, azaan is not his problem or he has nothing to do with it.
