TOI Insults Deepika Padukone Again, Turns Her Interview Into Something Entirely Out Of Context

From focusing on cleavage and making it the front page news to twisting and turning facts, the leading daily Times of India have done it all and they did it again. In an honest interview with the Bombay Times, Deepika Padukone opened up about her relationship with Ranveer Singh, talking about how comfortable she is in her own skin around him. However TOI turned this into a mere joke with a headline which clearly differed from her context.

Deepika Padukone & Ranveer Singh

The actress was asked her views on her connection with Ranveer Singh, to which she responded by saying “He is my Best Friend. I am emotional, sensitive and vulnerable and I hurt easily. I can be so naked in front of Ranveer and I know he will never hurt me or take me for granted. That’s the kind of trust and understanding we have.”

But of course, trust TOI to tweak things around and sensationalize news to the extent that it boils down to sexual objectification. TOI edits out Deepika Padukone’s thought about Ranveer Singh to make a catchy headline. This is the headline they went with:

Of course it had no context to the previous statements and she certainly was not talking about being open-hearted when she used the word “naked”. We are truly impressed by this immensely talented editing and the sheer honesty in the reporting style of Times of India, once again!

Previously in September 2014, TOI Entertainment thought it was absolutely appropriate to make news out of Deepika Padukone’s cleavage.

When the actress rightly lashed back with a good amount of vitriol, they came up with the classic explanation for objectification saying ‘it was a compliment’. Yay for misogynistic journalism.
